Memorial Weekend

This picture is horrible. His own godmother supporting his careless and reckless ways! Carter wanted to stay up and have some fun on Memorial Weekend. Our summer is off to a great start! We went to Kansas City to see friends and stay with his other godparents and he was such a good baby that even though we were in a hotel one night (don't worry, it was totally clean for Hover standards and for 3 month baby standards, I was very pleased) and in a different house for the next few days he continued to sleep through the night and slept even longer once we were back home in his own crib. Here are my days right now:
  • wake up
  • go gaze at a peacefully sleeping baby whom I gently wake up
  • he smiles at me, stretches adorably, smiles at me again and coos at me and babbles what i think already sounds like mama
  • each eat breakfast
  • play, smile, and talk
  • watch ellen
  • nap
  • lunch
  • play, smile, talk
  • nap
  • play, smile, talk
  • afternoon snack
  • nap
  • play, smile, talk
  • dinner
  • play, smile, talk
  • catnap
  • nightcap and goodnight!

I'm not kidding that this child is so happy! We sing and talk and smile at each other all day! It is going to be so hard to send him to daycare in August. I don't even nap with him b/c he sleeps through the night so I get things done while he naps. It is a wonderful time! It was hard leaving him at first to go back to school but it was so great being back with the students and they did get to meet him on the last day of school. I think I scared some kids though when they got a bit too close and i panicked. They loved seeing him and loved to have their old teacher back, although they really commented that it felt like i was finally back the day i came to lunch with watermelon again. during the final weeks they put out a fruit tray and i had watermelon for the first time since the pregnancy and they were quite relived to see that routine back for them. Out of 19 students, 16 of them when asked what makes their teacher the happies they wrote watermelon! Only ONE child put, when we read and write. Awesome, so of all the things they will remember from their first grade year it is that I ate watermelon everyday at lunch time. oh, well, I guess there are worse things! :)
